Chroma Saxophone Quartet is a chamber ensemble dedicated to exploring the boundless spectrum of sound through the art of the classical saxophone. Inspired by the meaning of chroma (the richness and intensity of color), Chroma seeks to illuminate the instrument's vibrant palette of timbres, textures, and expressive possibilities. Every performance is a canvas of sonic color, revealing the remarkable versatility of the classical saxophone through music that is both engaging and imaginative.​

 

Composed of acclaimed classical saxophonists Juan Carlos Entrambasaguas, Gabe Read, Sophia Flores, and Nate Haley, Chroma was founded with a mission to bring the artistry of the classical saxophone to audiences who may have never experienced it in a concert setting. Although California is home to exceptional musicians, professional classical saxophone performances remain limited throughout much of Northern California. Chroma seeks to bridge that gap by creating meaningful performances that celebrate the instrument's extraordinary versatility and expressive range. While rooted in California, the quartet welcomes opportunities to collaborate and perform wherever music can foster connection, sharing the vibrant voice of the classical saxophone with communities near and far.
