Andrew Edwards, piano
Andrew Edwards, pianist, has maintained an active performance schedule as both soloist and collaborative pianist over the past decade. A recipient of many awards and honors, he has been featured as concerto soloist with orchestras including the University of Southern California Thornton Wind Ensemble, Orange County Symphony, and the Southern California Philharmonic, and most recently performed at Walt Disney Hall. Having performed several solo recitals throughout the Southern California region, Andrew was an MTAC Young Artist Guild winner, and he received the National YoungArts Foundation Merit Award. Andrew received his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music, where he studied with Jeffrey Kahane and was awarded the Undergraduate Bachelor of Music Performance Award in Piano. He recently graduated with his Master of Music in Piano Performance, and was awarded the Departmental Performance Award, along with the Graduate Studies Ensemble Award as well.
A pre-college student of Sofia Zukerman, Andrew has performed in masterclasses for Olga Kern, Logan Skelton, Mike Cheng-Yu Lee, Eduardo Delgado, Antoinette Perry, Sergey Schepkin, Dmitri Rachmanov, Stewart Gordon and Lidia Boguslavsky. He has also previously studied under the direction of Ick-Choo Moon and Nina Scolnik. Andrew has been in high demand as a collaborative pianist for professional musicians, university-level degree recitals, youth music festivals and competitions, and he currently serves as a staff accompanist at California State University, Fullerton. Andrew also regularly engages with other forms of music making, including improvisation, arranging, and music production, and it is this broad curiosity in the diversity of musical art that motivates his approach to his artistry at the piano. He is currently continuing his studies at USC with Jeffrey Kahane, where he is pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance.
