Juan Carlos Entrambasaguas, soprano sax
Juan Carlos Entrambasaguas is a saxophone performer and educator interested in Contemporary and Classical Music. He has been developing his artistic activity in Finland, Spain and the United States. Juan Carlos performed as a soloist and with chamber music groups. He taught master classes and played with different Artists at high-performance levels. He currently holds a teaching position as a woodwind instructor at the San Francisco Community Music Center, while also operating his own private studio, JCarlos Music Studio, in Fair Oaks, California. Juan Carlos has a Master’s degree in Classical Saxophone Performance from the University of the Arts of Helsinki - Sibelius Academy of Finland, studying with Joonatan Rautiola. He also holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Saxophone Performance from the Superior Conservatory of Salamanca (Spain). Juan Carlos taught several master classes in different European countries such as Norway, Finland, Spain and the United States. Along his performance trajectory, Juan Carlos has played concerts internationally in Norway, Denmark, Latvia, Andorra, and Croatia, and has performed at the Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium, American Saxophone Academy, University of the Pacific, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Manhattan School of Music, the Helsinki Music Center. He has played as a soloist with the Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra, Youth
Orchestra of Salamanca (Spain), Helsinki Saxophone Orchestra, SaxibA Ensemble. He has also attended many workshops with well known musicians, such as Claude Delangle, Arno Bornkamp, Timothy McAllister, Otis Murphy, Marcus Weiss, Vincent David, Jean Denis Michat, to name a few.
Gabe Read, alto sax
With a sound “rich in overtones” and delivering performances which are “dramatic, intelligent, musical, and reliable,” saxophonist Gabe Read is bringing contemporary saxophone music to wider audiences. A lover of the standard repertoire and an advocate for new music, Read has performed a wide range of colorful repertoire ranging from baroque transcriptions to newly-commissioned world premieres.
Equally passionate about the saxophone’s unique role in orchestral settings, Read seeks to bring to light and expand the performance and repertoire of orchestral saxophone music. Read’s orchestral ensemble engagements include performances with the Camellia Symphony Orchestra, Music in the Mountains Orchestra, the Folsom Lake Symphony Orchestra, and the Modesto Symphony Orchestra with vocalist James Tormé.
He received degrees in Music Education (BM ‘16) and Saxophone performance (BM ‘16 MM ‘22) from California State University Sacramento.
Nate Haley, bari sax
Nate Haley has been passionate for the saxophone from an early age, and has spent over two decades delighting audiences throughout Northern California. His dedication to the arts has led him to perform with several ensembles like the Sierra Nevada Winds, the Auburn Symphony, and various small theater programs throughout the Sacramento region. He was also a founding performer for the Golden State Wind Orchestra, collaborating with some of the area’s most talented wind musicians for several seasons.
Beyond large ensembles, Nate has also collaborated with many smaller chamber groups, performing along the West Coast, from Los Angeles, to Ashland, Oregon, in addition to the greater Sacramento area. He has also had the privilege of performing at the annual Festival of New American Music held at California State University, Sacramento.
Nate Haley studied music at Sacramento State, where he was a member of the Sacramento State Wind Ensemble under the guidance of Dr. Robert Halseth. During his time there, he had the opportunity to expand his studies via clinics and masterclasses with guest musicians and composers. Additionally, he has performed under the baton of guest conductors such as Dr. Frank Ticheli, and has appeared in notable venues such as Mandavi Center’s Jackson Hall.
While studying under saxophonist Dr. Keith Bohm, Nate earned a B.S. degree in Business and Finance from California State University, Sacramento, while also obtaining a minor in music.
